Daytona 500 week in Orlando

Overview

Quote:
We took my dad to go to the Daytona 500 and had an absolute blast attending the races. I have never been a huge race fan, but I was so fascinated and enthralled with the entire experience that I am definitely a fan now. If you are even considering going -- DO IT!!! We also had a great time hanging out in Orlando and at the timeshare (Orange Lake Country Club). Quick Tips: Tips for those attending the race: Try to stay as far North in Orlando as possible. We stayed down in Kissimmee and although we loved the timeshare, we had to fight the Disney World crowd each time we wanted to go out and about. Read through the info on the ...Read More

Best Things Nearby:Disney World is right down the street (a mile or two) from the resort. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and a Walgreen's and grocery store right next to the resort. There's also a video store a mile or so down the road. Best Things About the Resort:The units are very comfortable and spacious and there's so much to do on the resort property!Resort Experience:The units are spacious and fairly well decorated and maintained. The only poor thing we noticed was that the TVs in each bedroom were very old and the bathroom areas were pretty small for the size of the unit. We had a very large and spacious balcony with a table and chairs and...Read More

Extremely fun and highly recommended! I wasn't even a racing fan, but after attending the races, I'm hooked! If you are considering going or would be interested in going -- DO IT! If you're not there during a race, you can still go to the speedway and take a tour, do virtual reality racing, see the IMAX movie, see the last car to win the Daytona 500, etc. If you're attending a race I'd recommend the following: Get there EARLY!!! Avoid the majority of traffic and hassle by getting there very early. There's plenty to do and see once you get there so you won't be sorry you did. There are some places to eat across the street from the speedway, so the best thing to do is get there earl...Read More

We had a half day to kill and wanted to avoid the crowds (and prices) of Disney and Universal, so we decided to check out Wonderworks, and boy, are we glad we did! It cost about $16 (adult regular price) to get in before our $2-off coupon and we had an entire afternoon of fun and entertainment. We didn't have any kids with us and are both 30-something and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. However, all the kids around seemed to be really enjoying themselves also. It's hard to explain what this place is, but I'll give it a try. First of all, the building is "upside down," which is interesting in itself. The building is filled with all types of fun and interesting educational interactive displays. ...Read More
