Restaurant | "Robert is Here"

Quote:
Robert is Here is not really a restaurant, but a family owned store, on the road to the Everglades in Homestead. They have the best shakes made of delicious fresh fruit. The store also has home made honey and jam and lots of tropical fruits. In the back they have a garden with gigantic turtles (and I really mean GIGANTIC!!!)

The people are very friendly and a lot of times they offer you a little taste of some exotic fruit that you have never seen before.

The Anhinga Trail gives you a fast picture of what the Everglades has to offer. The scenery is absolutely magnificant and with 99.99% garantee you will see several alligators. You walk on a board walk somewhat above the swamp, so you have a nice overview. It is a beautiful place where alligators, (soft shell) turtles, ibises, herons, anhingas, fish are abundant. You might even see a snake or a cute rabbit! The alligators are so close to you it is almost scary. Fortunately, apparently they are more afraid of us than we are of them.

Attraction | "Boat Trips at Flamingo City"

Quote:
When entering the Everglades via Homestead (south of Miami) and you drive the main road all the way to the end, you arrive at Flamingo City. Flamingo City has a marina where you can take several cruises, rent boats or canoes. I would really recommend the Cruise into the Everglades. The narrator explains a lot about why the Everglades looks the way it looks, what animals live there etc. On the way you can see crocadils, alligators and maybe even a dolphin (they enter the Everglades via the bay because there a many tasty fish to be found in the rivers and lakes of the Everglades.

Shark Valley

Attraction

Quote:
If you take 8th Street West in Miami, this street turns into Tamiami Trail. On the left hand side you will find the entrance to Shark Valley, one of the three official entrance to the Everglades National Park. Here you can go biking or take a tram to see more of the Everglades. If you go biking, make sure that you take lots of water with you and that you are armed with bug repellent. You can assured though that you will enjoy the ride. Half way of the loop there is a watch tower which provides a nice break on a hot day. One advise: don't teach your kid how to ride a bike here! A few years ago some parents thought the straight path was ideal for some riding lessons for their son. The child rode i...Read More

Just before entering the Everglades National Park via Homestead, you have the option to go straight instead of right towards the Everglades (right next to the prison). The road leads to the Alligator Farm, where they farm raise hunderds of alligators. It is a lot of fun to see alligators in all sizes and shapes. They also have a snake show, alligator show and you can take a fun air boat ride.
