Cabo's Best Firefighter Getaway

An April 2002 trip to Cabo San Lucas by B&R Pomeroy

Bella CaliforniaMore Photos

This was a rental trip we have repeated several times now as Villa Del Palmar members. The resort is close to town and on the beach, but exclusively private when you want quiet time. There's great staff, a wonderful spa, and delicious food (including oven-baked pizza).

Best Things Nearby:
Villa Estancia is right next door and is a luxury adult full ownership place. The fire department is on the walk into town. The PD and the American Hospital are all close as well.

Best Things About the Resort:
The best thing about this place is how clean it is! Clean lobby, hallways, rooms, pools, beach; everything is cleaned all the time.

Resort Experience:
The other great things are the secure location and perimeter. Security is actually friendly and helpful. Gated entry and its own plaza with shops, grocery, video store, salon, and gym.

The SPA is amazing. Get a massage while you are there; you will not regret it! There are two pools for quiet and play use.

The onsite food is reasonably priced and the entertainment staff are fun and give lots of free booze away. They are all sickeningly fit and provide eye candy, but they are respectful to couples and families!

The loaction is the best in Cabo. The sand is coming back every year and this resort has the longest neighboring beach with no other resorts on it. It makes for long romantic walks without vendors!

Cabs are cheap to get into the center of town. The staff will also help you get a limousine to pick you up at the airport for 100. Split that with 4-6 friends and you have the best air conditioned ride for your buck! The driver deserves a huge tip for bringing a cooler full of ICE COLD BEER on his own initiative. (The beer was actually ice cold too!) No geriatric ben gay smelling ride stopping at several resorts on the way to your own!

This place is right on the edge of town, so it is quieter than all the rest, it is more private, and the staff will bring you anything you need to your room. Room service is priced fairly.

The beds were hard, but they brought a few egg-crate pads for comfort. The view from this place is also sweet! The timeshare people are all over the place in the early mornings, but they are nice if you are up front about buying or not buying. They have a good thing to sell and some of them could sell bras to snakes; venomous snakes would buy from them. Oh well...

I can't imagine trading my weeks to go someplace else. E-mail me if you want to trade week straight across for new zealand or maui though.

The mornings are incredible, watching the sunrise and the rays swimming along the beach. Lunches are great spreads. Dinner by torch light and exceptionally polite staff and servers.

The value is very positive for the quality of food and service. The after dinner round outdoor bar and snacks are great.

This place serves great food and wine. It's good for big groups or romantic couples. There's an open-air two-level bar at night. They even deliver pizza to your resort. The wait staff is good about taking pictures also.

Great beach pick-up and/or pool instruction. Their wet suit selection leaves a lot to be desired, but bring your own and you'll still have a great time.

The crew was great and so was the food that was provided. Snorkeling trips in the morning are so awesome! You get free food, beer, margaritas, and gear to snorkle. (Save some of your chips in a ziplock bag to feed the fish and you will be Mr. Popular with the marine life; drop the bag if you see a shark, though!).
