Beach to beach and more

A February 2004 trip to Barwon Heads by Lis and Lloyd

Leaving home has inspired me to think more of the place we live. Barwon Heads in Victoria, Australia is the most beautiful -- it's relaxing, friendly, and ever changing.

Barwon Heads has great places to swim from family friendly to where the Barwon River meets the ocean to the wild waves of Thirteenth Beach (very good surfing, I'm told, but I just like to swim!).

Quick Tips:

The camping ground is in a great spot -- right on the beach and right near The Heads.

There are lots of good cafes. I like Barwon Orange and the pizza place has live music on Friday nights. Signature has great food, it’s though more expensive.

Best Way To Get Around:

Walking around is easy once in Barwon Heads and there are plenty of buses (around A) from Geelong.

Restaurant

This place is cosy, friendly, relaxed, and intimate. The wood fire oven is made in the shape of a (not tacky) orange. We had pizza, saganaki cheese, and some antipasto, all of which I enjoyed (the cheese the most). This is just an easy-going place with a good menu and friendly staff.
