A trip to Cabo San Lucas.

Cabo

Overview

We took road trips to surrounding areas. You must take a trip to Todos Santos and stop at "Art and Beer", a secluded cantina in the middle of the desert! AMAZING! Lourdes and Raphael will feed you raw shrimp and clams, and make you feel right at home. All along that drive, you will find MILES and MILES of secluded white sand beaches. Near Cabo, be sure to hike to Lover's Beach (much more fun to literally climb over the rocks from Solmar Beach than to just take a water taxi). Dolphin Beach outside of Cabo is amazing.

Quick Tips:

You may hear a lot of bad things about Cabo in the new tourist books (e.g., overrun with tourists, etc.), but that is only if you stay in town and go to Cabo Wabo every night! There are so many wonderful things to do and see in and all around Cabo.

Best Way To Get Around:

You need a car to really enjoy and get off the beaten path.
Best Things Nearby:
Solmar Beach. Lover's Beach. The town of Cabo. Take a trip to Todos Santos. . . you will find MILES and MILES of deserted white sand beaches! Also, don't miss "Art and Beer", a secluded cantina in the middle of the desert on your way to or from Todos Santos. Dolphin Beach is also worth the 20-minute drive.

Best Things About the Resort:
Very new. Rooms are beautiful, all with ocean view. Solmar Beach is fantastic.

Resort Experience:
This is a great resort right on Solmar Beach. I have visited many of the resorts in Cabo and think this is definitely in the top two or three! The rooms are perfect, with beautiful tile throughout, very roomy, and great views. We stayed in a studio on one occasion and a one-bedroom unit on another. All were great. . . we actually probably preferred the studio because of the view and it was the newest. If you can go in March, the whale watching is AMAZING. I have never seen anything so spectacular in all my life. We weren't thrilled with the management, but the service people were wonderful.

  • Unit Type: Studio
  • Activities: Not Available
  • Amenities: Excellent
  • Unit Satisfaction: Excellent
  • Family Friendliness: Very Good
  • Service: Very Good

Mi Casa

Restaurant

This is a great restaurant in the town of Cabo San Lucas. When you walk inside and look up, you will notice immediately that there is no roof. . . instead, you dine underneath the stars. There is a charming mariachi band that will serenade you if you like or you can simply enjoy the music from afar.

We had the sopas for our appetizer; for entrees, I had enchiladas verde and he had chicken with mole sauce. All were great. If you want authentic Mexican fare in a wonderful atmosphere, this is your place.

Cascades

Restaurant

This is a great restaurant where you can experience fine dining right on the beach. The service and view are both superb. They offer a variety of continental and local cuisine. I had peppered filet mignon, which was excellent. The highlight is the Mexican coffee, which they flambe right at your table. If you don't want to spend the money for dinner, it is worth the trip just for the view and the Mexican coffee.
