This is the ultimate family resort! It has something for everyone and is reasonably priced. The kid recreation programs are awesome and accommodate all abilities. It is a real four-season resort.

I can't say enough about the kid recreation program at Massanutten. It is fun and educational. They take all kids, even those with special needs, and it is all reasonably priced. If you like skiing or golf, this is a resort for you. They also have snow tubing and river tubing. The indoor/outdoor pools are nice. The large outdoor hot tub overlooking the mountain is awesome. The wine tour is good and I highly recommend the winemaker's dinner.

Quick Tips:

Make sure to get an activity card. It is for adults and for kids. It will save you lots of money and provide unlimited activities and fun. Also, make sure to register your kids early (at least a day in advance for the kid programs).

Best Way To Get Around:

You will need a car to get around as this is a very large resort and they do not have a shuttle bus, yet. They do offer tours to D.C., Monticello, and the vineyards; take advantage of these as they provide the transportation and meals.
We stayed in a two-bedroom lower level unit. There was a nice living area with gas fireplace, TV/VCR, and a patio overlooking the mountains. There was a full kitchen with all appliances and utensils. The first bedroom had two twin beds with its own TV and bathroom. The second bedroom had a queen-size bed, TV, and a bathroom with a large Jacuzzi tub and stand-alone shower. The condo was roomy enough for all five of us, and with three TVs there was never fighting over what to watch.

Fareways Resturant

Restaurant

The food was awesome and ranged from gourmet to sandwiches. I highly recommend the onion au gratin soup. It is french onion soup with an American twist. I also recommend the buffalo chicken sandwich--it is very spicy and very large. I could only eat half of it. The chef is superb and the waitstaff was one of the best I have ever seen. Very polite!

Every week a winery comes to the resort and, with a chef from Fareways Restaurant, puts together a gourmet dinner with five different wines. The chef describes every course before it is served (five courses total) and a representative from the winery describes the wine. It was awesome and very tasty. The cost of this event is only $45 per person, which is very reasonable for a gourmet wine-tasting dinner.

Downhill Skiing

Activity

This is only the third time I have skiied and I had an awesome time. The slope conditions were great and there was no waiting at the lifts. The prices were very reasonable and they have a great ski school for kids.

Massanutten Ski Resort
1822 Resort Drive Massanutten, Virginia 22840

If you like antiques or crafts or Amish food, this is the place for you. The prices were amazingly low. They were selling king-sized handmade quilts for as low as $70.00. They had very unique Civil War memorabilia and books about the Confederacy. They also had Amish furniture and food.
