Overview

We can make the trip in one day from New York City. Drive out in the morning, spend the afternoon and return before it gets too late. The drive itself is extremely pleasant. My boyfriend usually does the work and I enjoy the scenery which includes plenty of road-side produce stands, flowers, and beautiful homes.Quick Tips: Leave early from the city if you are driving to avoid heavy traffic. Also, bring a camera. There are lots of photo opportunities. Don't miss the Pennywhistle Toy Store in Brideghampton!! There is a wonderful mechanical bear outfront that blows bubbles!!Best Way To Get Around: For most of the villages on the Island, walking is the way to go. A car is necessa...Read More

World Pie

My boyfriend and I were looking for a light and inexpensive lunch. There aren't many choices as far as inexpensive goes in Bridgehampton when it comes to dining, even for lunch. World Pie wasn't too costly. It is a large cafe with a great (and often crowded) patio area. The patio was full so we sat inside, but there were plenty of big windows, ceiling fans and a nice breeze. We split a classic pie with cheese, tomato and basil. The menu is pretty interesting. We also had the garlic sticks. I thought that the garlic sticks were great, but the pizza was definitely on the greasy side. The service was very prompt and we got out of the place spending only $16. The bar inside seemed to be a fairly...Read More

The Lobster Roll Restaurant or "LUNCH"

This place doesn't look like much, but the menu features a long list of celebs who have eaten here: Woody Allen, Jimmy Buffet, Sara Jessica Parker, Yoko Ono, and Pelé, to name a few. The restaurant itself has even appeared in two movies! It seems small from the outside and inside it seems way too busy with cheap beach/ocean decor. But don't be fooled...the large, red LUNCH sign on the roof is a landmark (as well as the spot's nickname). Fresh seafood is their specialty. They have a famous lobster salad roll, lots of chowder, and even burgers. My boyfriend and I went out on one of the last weekends they are open for the season (sometime in mid-October). We had passed the place sever...Read More

Bridgehampton Mill

Attraction | "The Mill at Bridgehampton"

This store is a huge barn-like structure with plenty of room to browse. They also have an outdoor patio area with lawn furniture and old weather vanes. The sales people didn't bother us as we looked around which I count as a huge plus!! I wasn't planning to buy anything, but there were several very impressive and beautiful china cabinets. Most of the items had a country flavor to them. There wasn't a lot of art. The store had much more large furniture than anything else.

A wonderful gallery that features local artists. A fairly large place made up of a couple of white, open air buildings set back off of the highway. Look for a large (I mean BIG) rust-colored, metal moose outfront. My boyfriend and I were really delighted with the outdoor sculpture garden and the work of Chris Williams, inspired by a visit to the Albuquerque Zoo. There are several metal giraffes in the garden which are his. There are works by other artists too like the colorful metal flowers and a lilypad. My boyfriend liked the fountains, but his favorite piece was a bench being held up by two playful bears. The current indoor exhibit is called 'Earth, Wind, and Fire' and runs through June 19th....Read More

Kirk Park Beach

My boyfriend and I have been here several times. I think it is one of the only beaches in Montauk that has public parking. The lot is right next to the IGA store. You can't really see the beach from the road. At any rate, it is $10 for a day and it is well worth every penny!! It has never been crowded and we always go on a Saturday. The beach is always very clean. There are lifeguards from 10am-5pm. You can't miss it if you take the Old Montauk Highway. Watch for the IGA on your right before you enter the village. There aren't many activities aside from swimming and catching the rays, but I think that makes it all the more relaxing. Occasionally we see a plane or two with a banner behind it...Read More
