Weekend Getaway in the California Mountains

A January 2004 trip to Arnold by tbubbette

We started our weekend getaway by driving 2.5 hours to Arnold. Our reason for the weekend was to meet up with members of a Siberian Husky Dog Rescue Organization. This was to be our first SNOBASH weekend with lots of dog sledding, meeting new people, and tons of fun in the snow.

Quick Tips:

Bring lots of clothes for layering, goggles, safety helmets for sledding, and, of course, mittens/gloves.

Best Way To Get Around:

Driving - ALWAYS carry tire chains in the winter months.
One queen and one twin-bed with kitchen. Shower, but no tub in the bathroom. Beautiful wooded setting with barbecue and picnic tables. Pets are welcome! Close to Bear Valley for all snow sports and Cottage Springs with a fantastic sledding hill and separate area for snowboarders.

Attraction

Inner tubes are rented for $10-20 for an unlimited time, not by the hour. Two sizes are available so both young and old can join in the fun. Two separate hills are reserved for inner tube sledders only and another hill for snowboarders.
