A Mom and her son visit the Bahamas

A February 2002 trip to Freeport by t2day

A farewell present to the Bahamas.

The Viva Fortuna is nonstop fun. Watching the creative staff and guests on stage was great. Loads of food and drinks. Contests for the whole family. Lots of family stuff to do.

Quick Tips:

Take a sea kayak out. Try some of those funny-named drinks at the bar. Give karaoke a shot, or the line dances.

Best Way To Get Around:

Don't bother with renting a car. Grab the bikes or take a shuttle.
The rooms were nothing to write home about. Luckily this was a vacation; I didn't plan on doing anything but sleeping in the room anyway. My son felt the same. These are not set up with kitchens, because it is an all-inclusive that offers food all day.

Being an island, you see nature do its thing. Sand or puddles on walkways. It was pretty windy in February.

Best Things Nearby:
The market area was not too far. That was the only time I ventured away from the resort. My son never left.

Best Things About the Resort:
They had loads of families and lots of activities to keep both adults and kids occupied.

Resort Experience:
If you are not looking for a typical resort set up with a kitchen, living room, etc. you can really enjoy yourself here. Some people do not like all-inclusive resorts, but we loved this one. We ate, drank, danced, laughed, relaxed, and made new friends.

There were several options for dining. This is usually an all-inclusive, which you pay for when you arrive. The buffets of food were plentiful and tasty. If you wanted to sit in the restaurant, it was suggested that you make reservations. We enjoyed our seafood dish.

Attraction

My son couldn't wait. He said the training was easy and they had an incredible dive. He wanted to do more, but it gets expensive.
