Week at Marco Island

A January 2004 trip to Marco Island by alert

We stayed at the Charter Club resort and had a great vacation. The condo was right on the gulf and the shelling was incredible. The unit was large and bright with updated appliances. The master bedroom was beautiful with a view facing the gulf.

Shelling was a favorite activity. We found some great ones. We also enjoyed a boat ride around the island and saw many birds and even some dolphins.

Quick Tips:

You need a car to get around. The nearest grocery store was about three miles away.

Best Things Nearby:
The beach, local shops, great restaurants.

Best Things About the Resort:
The resort was right on the beach. Even though the resort is over 20 years old, it has been updated and deserves its Gold Crown designation. The pool area is quite nice.

Resort Experience:
Charter Club has two buildings -- North and South. The North building is preferred, but the South building overlooks the pool and then the gulf. Marco Island is a vital and beautiful place. It is very developed. The beach is wide with soft white sand and stretches along the island.
