An October 2003 trip
to Queensland by Gypsy Canuck
Quote: On our road trip through the outback of Queensland, we came across this lovely quaint town. We stopped to enjoy the history and ambience. We had a few brews and sat under the tree of knowledge hopefully to soak up some intelligence. It didn't work.
There is a lovely garden around the tree and benches and a plaque. It was a hot sunny day when we were there and it was a clean, nice spot. The tree is a ghost gum and is looking bleak in the trunk, and has been filled with some sort of plaster.
The Artesion Hotel is across the street and has wonderful verandahs with shade to drink a beer on. It is a real outback town with bright buildings and not many people milling around. We bought some local pottery at the petrol station and had a brew or two before we went on our way.
