Colonial San Miguel de Allende

Overview

Quote:
San Miguel de Allende, jewel of the colony founded in 1542, is located one hour from Guanajuato city and three hours away from Mexico City (well, this also depends on the traffic jams!). It offers a nostalgic Mexico of singular beauty and is considered a national monument by the Mexican Arts Institute (INBA). An intelligent perception of the quality of life has caused this organization to conserve its architecture, cobblestone streets, traditions, and culture. There are beautiful, colonial patios that are part of hotels and international restaurants. San Miguel de Allende is a refuge of talented craftsmen and artists who exhibit themselves in numerous galleries of art. The Church of San Miguel Ar...Read More

Best Things Nearby:EVERYTHING IS CLOSE BY!!!! You have to climb about 100 steps every single day!Best Things About the Resort:The best about this place is the decorations and the service -- the staff really looks forward to helping you. The units are clean and nice, but SMALL. We were three adults it was a little crowded. The pool is nice, but who wants to swim in this beautiful town?!Resort Experience:The construction is like an old hacienda with hundreds and hundreds of steps!!! This is ok if you are in good shape, but this place is not handicapped friendly! The view from my room was awesome. The gardens are in very good shape and are very relaxing to walk t...Read More

This restaurant is very famous in the area because of its refined and elegant service, as well as its novel kitchen, which has a style that is unique in San Miguel. You have to try the carpaccio of fresh salmon and shrimp sauteed in butter and the mushroom soup.

This Mexican steak house is great. The steaks are of the best quality, cut by hand, and grilled. They have a great sauce selection, so you combine them to your pleasure. This place is very nice and the service is good, too. The wine selection is not very good, though.

Grito

Attraction | "El Grito"

Quote:
This club in San Miguel is the best in town. Grito combines historical images with rock music and the overwhelming effects of electronic illumination. A big head cries towards the street from the main entrance. A gigantic reproduction of the Angel of Independence provides the platform of the DJ. Wood floors and a hammered brass ceiling evoke Studio 54. This club is very nice!!!
