The highlights of the journey were few due to the very short length of our journey. The hilarious part was that the amount of time it takes to go to Syria from Cyprus is only 40-45 minutes (I say that because I am more used to over an hour plane journeys). The amazing part over there is the culture - a mixture of Arabian and a little European, and I would say there is some mystery too when you walk around in the Arabian bazaar (a HUGE building with loads of shops) and the Christian bazaar(this bazaar is a lot more European than the Arabian one). From the salads with little toasted bite-sized bread (which I must say are very refreshing on the palette), original humus and tahini, to hot spicy doner kebabs(for which you must have a strong stomach), you'll find it all. If you like spicy to very mild spicy food, I would say yes. Do try the local cuisine. Another major food that you MUST try or buy while you're in Syria is the Syrian nuts. Syria is well-known for their cashew nuts which are double the size of the European ones, and they taste a LOT nicer. They sell them by the kilo and price-wise they are very cheap.
