This girl's getaway was an excellent mix of visiting favorite tourist stops plus going to local hangouts! During this gir's adventure, we focused on pleasing a first time visitor as well as two of us who visit often!

We ditched our car and used public transit - from boats to taxis!!! We were stress free of parking and traffic dilemmas and loved it! Read about our Saturday cruise over to Marin - what a great way to travel!!! What a view of the city from the boat. We also rode the cable cars and took a taxi tour. A great weekend pleasing a SF virgin as well as the old city pros!

Quick Tips:

Would you like to blend in with the locals? Bring a black or brown leather jacket or pants! Leather...black and brown is B.I.G. in San Francisco. If you visit the non tourist neighborhoods, you will see that this is essential for blending! Also, SF is cool throughout the year - which makes leather a main clothing staple for many locals.

Best Way To Get Around:

Public Transportation!!!! Don't even think about driving - especially if you plan on going to our favorite weekend hangouts - the traffic and bridges cause too much stress for any getaway!
Decadence! The Stanford Court lives up to its reputation for fine and attentive service plus a breath taking setting. We entered the driveway to find a friendly, smiling bell captain greeting us with a welcome and quickly assisting us with our luggage. Next, we requested different accomodations and the front desk was eager to oblige and sent a roll away to our room. The concierge was wonderful with suggestions, directions and any other requests we had.

The location also is worth the price tag. Staying on Nob Hill is central to most hot spots in the city. You are close to a cable car stop and walking distance to theatres, shopping and fine restaurants.

Sam's

Restaurant

Ride the boat over to Tiburon and wear your sunscreen. Make sure to sit on the patio and have some popcorn as you wait for your table. Sam's is a local hangout featuring basic salads, burgers and sea food. The food is good, the people watching is better and the house Mai Thais are the best!

ASIA SF

Restaurant

We walked through the curtain and were escorted to our table. Next, a pleasant waitress approached us for a drink order while other women danced on the bar and lip synched popular songs. On second thought, the waitress has an adam's apple and so does the dancing girl! Seriously, at Asia SF the men dress in drag and entertain the dinner guests. The food is very good along with the interesting and entertaining service. At the end of our meal, after we paid the bill, our waitress instructed us that we could sit at the bar or head downstairs so they could seat the next group - if you don't mind this type of tacky behavior - it is worth the experience and entertainment.

As I sat on the deck staring at the beautiful San Francisco sky line as the sun lit up the water and birds flew above, I realized this is the best way to travel. No bridge tolls or traffic jams to contend with. Instead, I ordered a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, found a comfortable seat and relaxed as I cruised 15 minutes to the dock in the town of Tiburon.
