Beautiful Grand Velas in Nuevo Vallarta

A November 2003 trip to Puerto Vallarta by edecker

The resort was less than a year old. Absolutely lavish accommodations. First class resort with first class service. The food was muy excelente! The pool was grand and the beach was right at our fingertips. Every room has an ocean view with a balcony! Can't ask for much more than that!

Best Things Nearby:
The city, the beach, the lobby bar, the pool bar, the service, the food, and Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club -- yes!!

Best Things About the Resort:
It is brand new. Oceanfront rooms (all of them). Great service. All-inclusive option. The room itself was great. It was very big for a one bedroom. The big balcony with ocean view! We felt kind of like royalty. The array of food options and alcoholic drinks were endless. Choose what you may

Resort Experience:
The room was the Parlour Suite with the terrace balcony. This includes two couch beds to sleep out there and two lounge chairs with a table. Just inside the balcony was the dining area, including a contemporary glass table imported from Belgium and chairs, a 36" TV with satellite cable, and a mini fridge that held water, juice, sodas, beers, tequila, rum, vodka, and kahlua. We emptied this out pretty quick and then called the front desk for a re-stocking of our fridge -- no problem! The all-inclusive option covers it. Connected to the dining area is the living room area with a couch and coffee table, (very new furniture). The bedroom was separated from the living area by a door and wooden shutter windows -- there were just two of us, so we never closed the shutters or the door. There is separate climate control from the bedroom and the rest of the unit -- very high tech stuff. The bedroom consisted of two king beds with down comforters and six down pillows to choose from on the pillow menu. There were also robes, slippers, closet space with a safety box, and the second of the two 36" TVs. Connected to that is the bathroom with a sink, a toilet, and a bathtub – it was pretty standard, but very new and nice, about 950 sq ft I think.

I definitely want to take my girlfriend here for our honeymoon – this would be an experience I will never forget and nor will my girlfriend. This was our first time in Mexico by ourselves away from our parents. This was 100 times better than any place our parents booked! Definitely try to get this place. Our unit goes for about $600 per night! If you Check out the grand velas.com website you'll see the expense. Booking through RCI was an unbeleivable deal. Plus RCI all-inclusive rates are cheapest that they offer. No other people get it cheaperTwo thumbs up!

This place serves great food. Order anything you want, whenever you want -- it's an all-inclusive paradise! You can eat shrimp and steak with unlimited drinks for lunch and dinner, and all the dessert you can handle. Plus, no tips are required -- you can't beat that!

Attraction | "Swim with the Dophins Tour"

It's a great boat ride of about 90 minutes to the Las Marietas Islands. There’s an entertaining crew of men who run the whole tour. You leave at about 9am and return at about 5pm. There’s an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet with juice and water. They also provide a lunch buffet and open bar. You can order any drink you can think of.

After a cultural overview of the islands and cave sights, you go to the area where you snorkel. We didn't see any dolphins unfortunately, but where we were stationed, there was the bluest water we saw in P.V. -- a colorful assortment of fish made for some pretty nice pictures. After the snorkel (90 minutes), we went to a private beach and hung out for a while, drank some beers, and enjoyed the whitest sand that we saw in P.V.! After that, we enjoyed our last drinks and food and laughs with the crew. Headed on back and relaxed in our gorgeous room @ the Grand Velas!
