A Canadian View Of Niagara Falls

Overview

Unfortunately, when we went to Niagara Falls, it was during the end of autumn. The weather was brisk, but that didn't stop us from having a good time. The town is full of things to do, from themed restaurants to haunted houses. It really is a great family destination or a nice romantic weekend getaway. The Casino Niagara is a great place to go to let loose for a little while. The Journey Behind the Falls was a neat way to view the falls from below. If you have a means of transportation, you can take a day trip to a number of wineries nearby to taste Canada's sweet Ice Wines. During the summer months, you can also take a boat ride on the Maid of the Mist, which takes you right next t...Read More

The Sheraton Fallsview Hotel is located about 300 yards from the falls. We checked in to a Fallsview room, which was spacious and had a wonderful view of the falls. The room had a balcony, king-size bed, television, and a see-through glass partition between the bedroom and bathroom. The bathroom had a whirlpool jacuzzi, a single sink and a separate shower and toilet area. The hotel's restaurants included one buffet-style restaurant, a pub/grill, and a pizza place. The pizza restaurant was not open at the time of our visit. The pub/grill was very nice, with a lounge area with sofas, a bar, and shuffleboard. The menu was short but the food was tasty. We only ate at the buffet during ...Read More

Hard Rock Cafe

Restaurant

Quote:
The Hard Rock Cafe is located downstairs at the Casino Niagara. My wife and I stopped in for lunch. At the time of year we went, the restaurant was not crowded. If you have been to a Hard Rock before, it is what you would expect. If you haven't, here is a quick overview. Memorabilia, memorabilia, memorabilia. There are guitars, pictures, gold and platinum records, and autographed everything hanging on the walls. The food is your typical pub grub with nothing that really stands out. The service was very slow considering there were about 20 other people eating with us in the restaurant, but our waitress was very colorful and kept us entertained in the meantime. Yes, and of course they have a so...Read More

Stanley's Pub & Grill

Restaurant | "Stanley's Pub & Grill"

Stanley's Pub and Grill is stationed at the Sheraton Fallsview Hotel and Convention Center. Stanley's is not your typical pub or sports bar it is more of a lounge. They have sofas and lounge chairs instead of tables and chairs. They do have about four to six televisions inside to catch the game, but my wife and I enjoyed their shuffleboard table the most. The food was actually very good. I had the prime rib sandwich on an onion roll with sautéed onions and mushrooms. The meat was very tender and melted in your mouth. The service was good -- they were always on top of my empty beer. It’s a nice place to eat with friends or if you are there on a convention. I did not see any f...Read More

To visit the Revolving Dining room you have to venture to the top of the Skylon Tower. In order to get to the top, you have to take an elevater up 775 feet skyward. One catch is that in order to take the elevator to dinner you have to pay a $2 (CAD) fee per adult and $1 (CAD) for children to reach the restaurant. When we stepped off the elevator we were quite surpirsed to see how quickly the room actually moved. The dining room does a 360 degree rotation every hour. This is not a dinner for someone afraid of heights or a person who gets motion sickness easily. If you can handle these two things you will not be disappointed. Before you are seated you can ask for a window tab...Read More

Casino Niagara

Attraction

When we pulled up to the Casino Niagara, we parked in the parking garage. This was a mistake because the garage is not owned by the Casino. It is actually cheaper to get the valet parking. The service, including the tip, was a couple of bucks less. When you head into the Casino, they card everyone and give you a hand stamp. I do not understand this concept, because when we went to the Hard Rock, we had to re-show our I.D. even with the stamp on our hand. Inside the Casino they had two floors of gaming. There were slot machines on both levels and I think all of the table games were on the main level. I recommend to get the Casino Niagara card if you are conside...Read More

The Journey Behind the Falls entrance is located at the welcome center on the Niagara Parkway, which is at the foot of the Horseshoe Falls. We paid for our tickets at the information center located down from the gift shop. The Journey is open for the entire year. We visited during the autumn so there was no line at the entrance. You then are directed toward a couple of elevators and are given ponchos, which are included in the price of admission. A guide will lead you on your decent down 13 stories and give you a briefing on the history of the tour and the falls. Our guide was more than happy to answer any questions that you had. When you step out of the elevato...Read More

Niagara Falls on the Canadian side is located just past Buffalo over the Rainbow Bridge. As you are crossing the bridge put your windows down and you can hear the crashing water on the rocks below. After crossing the bridge you will have to stop at the Canadian border crossing where you will be asked a couple of questions regarding your visit to Canada. You will also have to show your drivers license to the Canadian border patrol officer. This process, with traffic, can take between 10 minutes to 1 hour or more. Sometimes the border patrol does not have all of their stations open. This can mean a long wait to cross into Canada. After due process you can drive into town. Just follow...Read More
