The beach is nice.
Resort Experience:
This place is not a good value at all. The food was dreadful (worse than college dorm food) and the all-inclusive fee went up dramatically in 2004, so we weren't prepared for the extra cost. The specialty restaurant was mediocre, but they had a small selection so we got bored with it quickly. There is no place to get a quick drink near the accommodations, so you had to walk quite a bit all the time, which is a bigger deal late at night.
The disco was too near our rooms and the noise kept us up very late.
The dive shop was unacceptable; although they are PADI certified in 1999, I think they need a re-examination. Every regulator they gave me was faulty in some way and they tried to ply us with extra charges -- they have a little sign in the office that lists extra fees for various dive sites, but they don't ask you whether you want to go to a "special" dive site nor even tell you once you're there that it is a special one. They wanted to charge us about $100 extra dollars at the end in these "special" charges. I refused. In the US, their practice of doing this would be illegal; I don't know about the Bahamas.
The resort is close to nothing; you will need a car or pay exorbitant cab fees to get around.
The staff constantly solicits you for excursions or to have your picture taken. We did not enjoy our trip at all thanks to this resort; I recommend staying near Port Lucaya instead.
