A Vacation to be Remembered

A September 2002 trip to Carlsbad by Beauchemin

How can one truly express how a vacation taken after one of the most devastating times our country had gone through? We had planned our trip a year in advance and were looking forward it. Then, on September 11, the unthinkable happened. We left for California from Rhode Island on September 13 with much anxiety. Once we arrived we stayed in LA for a week and then off to Carlsbad. We were pleasantly surprised by how graciously we were received. Although the area is on the ocean and the Navy destroyers were out at sea, the ocean view was beautiful. The sunsets are difficult to put into words, and the many American glags and memorials along the beach were touching and added to the emotions that everyone in our nation was feeling at that time.

The ocean was just across the street from the Tamarack Beach Resort and each morning we woke up to the sound of the ocean.

Take a stroll down the street to the many shops or to one of the many restaurants.

Quick Tips:

A wonderful restaurant is attached to the resort and just up the street you can shop or stop at one of the many coffee shops of restaurants. We would stroll along the ocean or walk up the street to one of the restaurants, each offering a different type of ethnic food.

Best Way To Get Around:

We had a rental car, however very rarely used it during the evening. During the day if you wish to go to the San Diego area the best way to see the sights was definitely by car.

Best Things Nearby:
Beach, restaurant, shopping

Best Things About the Resort:
Convenient location, beautiful view of ocean, friendly staff.

Resort Experience:
Our two-bedroom unit was comfortable, however could have used a face lift. The drapes in the unit were dated as were the bedspreads.

All in all, however, the view more than made up for these minor things.

A small exercise room is available, a very small library and outdoor pool, and hot tub. A welcome party was held for all vacationers and indoor parking is available. The kitchen is well equipped and a restaurant is attached to the timeshare.

Accommodations are very comfortable and the view spectacular.
