Resort Experience:
As we turned into the grounds of Stouts Hill resort in Uley, England, we were pleasantly surprised. It was like pulling up to a small castle. Walking into the reception area, we were impressed by the staff, and the beautiful dark wood throughout.

The elegance of all the common areas of the resort was just beautiful. One night a dinner was offered (for a small price) to all residents. The food was excellent, the waitstaff wonderful and the attention to detail impeccable. It gave everyone a chance to meet people from all over the world.

Each evening, my son and I would go down to the honesty bar/games room and have a drink of brandy and play a few games of checkers. It was quiet, no one was there, and it gave us time to have some quality time together. The resort also offers a library which was very well stocked.

We took daily trips to the small town just a short drive away and purchased food, visited pubs, and just walked around and visited the shops along the streets.

There are laundry facilities available on site and also barbecue areas. An outdoor pool is also available.

Hopefully someday we will return to Uley and will definitely stay at Stouts Hill again!

Best Things About the Resort:
Everything...the staff, the building itself, the history, the barbecue equipment, the wonderful china and cloth napkins in each unit, the feather beds, the towel warmer in the bathroom, the cleanliness, the members' dinner offered one evening, the lake on the property, the impeccable cleanliness of the whole timeshare and all the units, the library, the honesty bar/games room.

Resort Experience:
Wonderful! How can one describe a place that makes one feel like family from the time you walk in the door until the time you leave. The whole timeshare has such charm that it is hard to put into words just how one feels when staying there.

Pull up into the winding driveway and come to a "castle." Walk in the doors and you are greeted with a warm, friendly "Hello, how nice to meet you," look around and you see dark wood carefully polished daily. Walk into the library and take a seat...there are many books to choose from, you'll be sure to find one that you'll enjoy. And then there's the honesty bar/games room. Rarely used in late evening and a wonderful place to sit and play a game of checkers or chess (if you choose) and get to know your son in a setting you've never been in before, and get reacquainted with your spouse in a very relaxing atmosphere.

Walking up the winding dark wood stairway, one has the feeling of being a guest at a castle.

When we got to the top, we went down a small hall and up a few more steps to our unit.

We opened the door and were pleasantly surprised to see a tastefully decorated living room, galley kitchen and dining area. As we went down a short hall, we came upon a small room (which was supposed to be the third bedroom), and two very good-sized bedrooms. The bathroom was very spacious, with a separate shower stall and a corner tub. A towel warmer was in the bathroom and we very quickly became very spoiled by this amenity!

We had friends visit us while we were there and invited them for breakfast. The kitchen, even though smaller than those in the U.S., was well equipped, and I had no problems preparing a meal for the five of us.

The china dishes and cloth napkins added to the elegance of the resort.

In each bedroom, the mattresses had feather beds on them and goose-down pillows and comforters.

If you want to be treated like royalty, take a trip to Uley and stay at Stouts Hill.
