Cancun January 2001

A January 2001 trip to Cancun by Larryb

Quote: Weather in January was cloudy each day with temperatures in the high 70s. Not as warm as some other Carribbean destinations in January we have gone to such as Aruba, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica. Still, we had a very pleasant week and really enjoyed the timeshare we stayed at.

Best Things Nearby:Great beaches with crystal-clear water and good waves for boogie boarding. Resort had nice entertainment each night with talented staff putting on a different show every night. In addition, they had a band and singer entertaining every night before and after the show.Best Things About the Resort:This is an optional all-inclusive were you can purchase all-inclusive by day or for entire week. Since there are great restaurants in Cancun, we chose not to buy the all-inclusive and we still had all of the other all-inclusive benefits such as water sports (went sailing and wind surfing) as well as nightly and daily activities.Resort Experience:We h...Read More

Very mediocre food and entertainment. I had the catch of the day, but it tasted like it was frozen fish. They also kept pushing drinks and seemed annoyed that we only ordered bottled water. They then tried to push desserts and we declined. Would not return.

Food was fresh but very spicy. We had fish Veracruz-style and it tasted fresh, and if you enjoy spicy food, this may be for you. Very romantic atmosphere overlooking the beach. They had outdoor tables as well, but it was a very windy night, so we ate indoors. Desserts and coffee were excellent. I would return, but next time I will tell them to prepare it with mild seasoning.

We had a blast at this place, with a good dance band and waiters that juggle and balance bottles on their heads. They really get you involved and you just can't help but have a great time. Food was just OK, but tasted fresh. This is just a place to go and have a great time.
