Biggest Little City

An August 2003 trip to Reno by njbro

Quote: This trip was relaxing and exciting. Our first visit to Reno and Tahoe was full of things to do, but we also had time for relaxation in the rooftop hot tub with a bird's eye view of Reno.

Biggest Little City

Overview

Quote:
We had the best of both Reno and Tahoe. We enjoyed the excitement of the Reno casinos and the magnificent beauty of the Tahoe area. Day trips to Tahoe included the MS Dixie cruise on the lake, which was beautiful and interesting. Ponderosa Ranch breakfast was really better than the village. The view for breakfast was spectacular, but very chilly.Quick Tips: Since the accommodations at the Plaza Resort Club do not include a kitchen, most meals will be eaten out. It does have a nice little refrigerator and microwave, which will do for some quick reheats for leftovers or sandwiches. Many reasonable wonderful places to eat.Best Way To Get Around: In Reno, the best way to get arou...Read More

Best Things Nearby:Right in downtown Reno within walking distance of most of the casinos. Also right next to the river park and walk.Best Things About the Resort:The studio room was very spacious, with a sofabed as well as king-size bed. Very nice view of city, but no balcony. There was daily maid service. The rooftop hot tub was great and it had a very nice indoor heated pool.Resort Experience:The units were clean and you could get videos at the lobby desk for free. There was a daily charge for valet parking, but it was in a covered parking garage and you didn't have to worry about your vehicle. There was a grocery store just a few miles away which we saw...Read More

Hot August Nights

Attraction

Quote:
We couldn't have picked a better time to go to Reno. The first week in August was Hot August Nights. If you are an old-car enthusiast or admirer, you will love this festival. Billed as the largest in the country, there are thousands of antique cars on display and on cruises through the city.

Fifties and sixties themes and entertainment were everywhere, and it made it much more exciting.
