Hotel | "Club Regina at the Westin"

Best Things Nearby:
New Marina

Best Things About the Resort:
Cleanliness, view, hot tub.

Resort Experience:
Our stay at the Westin was very good. The only drawback was that they have signs in the pool areas restricting the bringing of food or beverages from your room. They want you to purchase them from their snack bar. I always thought a timeshare was a good way to travel inexpensively, and not to be a captive to the inflated prices of food and drinks at these resorts.

Best Things Nearby:
Close to town in the southern district of Puerto Vallarta.

Best Things About the Resort:
Restaurant, secluded beach area, friendliness of staff.

Resort Experience:
The restaurant was excellent in food preparation, servers, and overall prices. Privacy of the beach was great. The rooms were of ample size for four people, but the lack of air-conditioning proved a drawback. The traffic noise from the highway adjacent to our room #803 was so loud that sleeping was interupted frequently by trucks grearing down and using the engine compression as a braking tool.

It was warm at night in the rear of the unit where the bedroom was located, not allowing us to close the window to eliminate some of the noise. Air-conditioning in the bedroom at least would have been a plus.

The views from our balcony were probably some of the best in Puerto Vallarta. We would return to this timeshare, but since it is built into a hill, we'll ask for a lower unit so we would not be on the same level as the main north south highway in Puerto Vallarta.

Westin Regina ClubBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

Tex-Mex buffet was okay, but not up to the standards to make it an above average meal. A bit pricey for what you received. Another night for their seafood buffet, the meal was less than anticipated and not nearly as good as other restaurants visited in Puerto Vallarta. As always the food was pricey at the Westin, whether for drinks and snacks around the pool areas or at the Palmar Restaurant.

Lindo Mar ResortBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

Dined at this resurant frequently. The food and service were excellent and the prices very good. The restaurant is located directly below El Set, offering a great view that's as good as or better than El Set. The breakfasts were excellent and priced from $4-$6US, while the dinners were from $8-$20US for specialty dishes as jumbo shrimp. The staff was excellent and attentive to our every need. I would recommend this restaurant at the Lindo Mar to anyone seeking a classy but down to earth dining experience in Puerto Vallarta.

Victor's PlaceBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

Victor's Place is in the marina near the south side entry. This is an open patio type of restaurant that serves beer at $1 a bottle all day, has great margaritas, and a variety of items on the menu from seafood to American dishes. We ate at this restaurant several times, and after the first occasion were instantly recognized by the owner Victor, who as a goodwill gesture delivered free after dinner liquors to our table. He also made it a point to talk to everyone he recognized from previous sittings.

This restaurant was a relief from the restaurants at the Westin Regina, where we were staying. Tourists weren't treated as dollar signs, proving there are honest restauranteurs that provide their clientele with good food and service without the individual feeling they have been ripped off.

I give a very highly recommended rating to Victor's Place and hope he does well in the future and not go under as many of the restaurants have in the past in PV.
