AubergeEstrimont is an 85 room hotel/inn on the road leading up to Mount Orford, and if you are on the road side, you will have a fine view of the mountain. On the other side, your view will be of a tranquil wooded area. Our room was very large with a queen bed, a double bed, a double pull out sofa and a round table. The room had a small balcony, a fireplace, a small television, small fridge and coffeemaker. We noted the carpets had seen better days and there were only 4 drawers and 6 hangers. As is common in many places we stay, the room lamps seemed to have only 40 watt lightbulbs in them (Dual-purpose, no doubt: to save money and to hide any imperfections. We promptly went out and pur...Read More

Best Things Nearby:Magog is within an easy drive to Sutton, Orford, Owl's Head, Jay Peak, and Bromont for those who like to ski. There is cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the area, as well as a variety of summer activities. Montreal and its vast array of attractions is within an hour's drive. Best Things About the Resort:The people at the reception were uniformly friendly and helpful, although they did close at 5pm. We were supposed to have a certificate for a restaurant meal, and several restaurants were closed. The one fellow made quite a few calls and actually drove over to the selected restaurant with the coupon for us. When we had trouble with our pilot light, a ...Read More

A La Paimpolaise

Restaurant | "A La Paimpolaisse"

Quote:
A La Paimpolaisse is open from Wednesday to Friday from 5 pm. It is named for a town in France. The dining room is small and cosy with large windows. We were there in the winter in the evening when it was dark, so I do not know what is outside those large windows. French cuisine and Breton Creperie are the cuisine highlighted on the web site http://www.paimpolaisedemagog.com/. Our food was uniformly delicious. We ordered a variety of crepe dishes. On our next visit to the Townships we were wanting to return but it was on one of the nights it was closed. Our meal for four cost $80 Canadian. The restaurant is on the main road, but somewhat difficult to access and I belie...Read More

St. Hubert

Restaurant

Quote:
The Magog St-Hubert is our favorite place for fast food chicken. It is right on the side of the road just off the highway. A very large establishment with big windows--we have always been in the winter in the dark and the place has been lit up with clear Christmas lights. There is a little waterfall inside, and the tables and booths are set well apart so you do not feel you are sitting with strangers. We try to get a table near the fireplace. The food is typical of those chicken places--great for kids and teens and just fine if that is what you are looking for during the evening. Quebec serves these flavored beers called Tornadoes or Hurricanes. I always have one when I visit. ...Read More

Pizza Hut

Restaurant

Quote:
We were looking for someplace reasonably priced to have a reasonably quick supper because we had been on the ski hill all day. Pizza Huts are pretty much the same all over, and as I imagined there were no surprises here. However on the night we went there was a special that included pizza, salad, and a pitcher of a soft drink. It was perfect for that evening.

Le Ranch du Spaghetti is in a converted house that you can see from the township's highway. Just because you can see it does not mean it is right there--there is a fairly convoluted way to get there, but it's not difficult to find. You may find yourself backtracking to get there.

There are two floors. We were seated upstairs and fairly close to other patrons and also conveniently located next to the "grill your own bread" station. Our kids loved that. I loved the flavored beers called Tornadoes and Hurricanes.

The pasta dishes were nothing special, but their dessert--a kind of upside down cake--was very much enjoyed by the whole family.

The name "resto-bar" conjured up in my mind an establishment with pool tables, peanut shells underfoot, walls covered with beer commercials and the smell of grease and cigarette smoke in the air. But L'Actuel was almost the exact opposite of what I had imagined. We only agreed to go there because we were having trouble finding an open restaurant that would honour the $50 voucher we had received for coming to Club Vacances Magog. The restaurant is in an old two-story home that was decorated with twinkly lights outside. Inside there were lots of antique mirrors and sconces on the walls. There was a fairly large main area and several smaller areas off the main one which smaller groups of people co...Read More
