A night in a Lighthouse

A May 2001 trip to Florence by Emilie S

You can check in early to this Victorian lightkeeper's house with cozy fireplaces and hot chocolate. After sunset, walk a few yards to the base of the lighthouse and watch the light rotate. Breakfast was a gourmet, seven-course meal.

Walk over to the lighthouse just a few yards away and stand at the base of the lighthouse. Look up at the rotating light. It looks as if you and the sky are rotating! After watching the sky fade to black and the stars move, make some hot chocolate and sit by one of the fireplaces, looking at turn of the century books.

Quick Tips:

Get the light keepers room. You can see the lighthouse from your window.

Best Way To Get Around:

Drive there. There is a lot to see on the Oregon coast.
This is decorated in the Victorian, turn of the century style. There are only six or seven rooms, with either a shared bathroom or private, depending on the room.

A seven-course gourmet breakfast is served each morning in the dining room and is included in the price of the room. The bed and breakfast has been featured in the Sunset Magazine, Oregon Coast Magazine, Gourmet Magazine, The New York Times, and on PBS Television, to name just a few.

We loved it!
