Clearly the opera house is first on most people's itinerary, and it is truly amazing. Sydney Harbour Bridge provides an amazing backdrop, and around the harbour itself there is always some sort of street entertainment, and some fantastic ice cream shops - you have been warned! Similarly, a trip to Sydney isn't complete without a visit to at least one of its easily accessible beaches. Manly, a short ferry away (Pier 3), is beautiful. If you are a backpacker on a budget, but still want to sample Sydney's nightlife, the ScuBar on a Monday night is a must. Free entry, and $2.50 champagne and wine after 8pm - what more could you ask? "Crab racing!" I hear you cry. Well, they have that too. A little strange, I have to admit, but it's free to bet on a crab, and the prizes are pretty good.
