This is one of the most beautiful areas in Alaska, but fortunately also one of the most accessible. This small town is also known for its impressive 4th of July celebration.

Alaskan Paradise

Overview

The fishing in Seldovia Bay and nearby Kachemack Bay are beyond compare. Due to the convergence of a warm and cold ocean current, this area was recently dubbed by the government to be the most fertile waters in the United States. Bird-watchers will also be impressed by the wide variety of sea and land fowl.

Quick Tips:

Boating/Fishing charters are numerous, and often at very reasonable prices. You can often also find a local fisherman who will be more than willing to take you out on his/her personal boats for much less. If hiking or bird-watching are your desire, there are numerous trails and campgrounds in the area, as well as a limited number of roads to take you into other areas of the bay.

Best Way To Get Around:

The town is accessible from a ferry from Homer, which is accessed from the Alaska Highway system. Ferry fees fluctuate, but are usually in the range for car and driver. Walking is the preferred method of transport. The town itself is small, but has state roads.
