Brisneyworld -- A.K.A. Australia's Gold Coast

Overview

Quote:
Just as Americans pack up the kids and go to Disney, our cousins down under do the same, but head for Australia's Gold Coast instead. The Gold Coast offers several theme parks--Dreamworld, Movieworld, and even Sea World. But there's plenty of things for adults to do, too. They sometimes call the area Brisvegas after America's Las Vegas because of the casino gaming available there.Quick Tips: When arriving, fly into either Brisbane or Coolongatta airport. The area is quite spread out from downtown Brisbane to Surfer's Paradise on the coast.Best Way To Get Around: I found renting a car to be quite convenient. Roads in the area were well-maintained and easy to navigate, even though I wa...Read More

The Conrad Jupiters Hotel & Casino is a very impressive structure in the area commonly known as Surfer's Paradise. With nearly 600 rooms, it's one of Australia's largest hotels. If it's wagering you're looking for, contained within its walls are three levels of gaming for those 18 and over. While it's impressive by Australian standards, frequent visitors to Las Vegas may be disappointed by the relatively low stakes games. The live show, "Storm", was entertaining and comparable to Vegas shows. Many children were in the audience, and thoroughly enjoyed the show, as did their parents. My room was ...Read More

At 85-hectares, Dreamworld is Australia's largest theme park, so wear comfortable shoes! Temperatures in the area are much like the climate in Orlando, Florida; the Gold Coast is said to get about 300 days of sunshine a year, but it seems much stronger than Florida's. Bring hats and sunscreen! You'll have no trouble finding plenty to do at Dreamworld! It's two parks in one--an animal park and a thrill-ride park combined. It also houses the set for Australia's Big Brother show, and when it's not filming, guests are invited to tour the Big Brother house. Dreamworld is also one of the few places in Australia where you can hol...Read More

Attraction | "Warner Brothers Movie World"

Quote:
Warner Brothers Movie World is a fairly small park, by American standards. It's quite easy to see everything in one day as long as the park isn't at capacity.

From coasters and simulators to kiddie rides, shows and parades, the park truly offers something for theme park fans of all ages!

Start out early when coming to see the Crocodile Hunter at the Australia Zoo! The road between the Gold Coast and the Glasshouse Mountains area can become quite congested! Better yet, hop on the train in Brisbane and relax during your journey. The park is rather large, and currently in the midst of construction. Apparently, they are adding a large stadium to accomodate the many tourists flocking to see Steve and Terri Irwin, and their ultra-cute daughter, Bindi Sue. The park has many animals on display, from crocs, to dingoes, to the world's oldest known tortoise, Harriet, who was brought over f...Read More
