Provincetown and Cape Cod sightseeing

A May 2003 trip to Cape Cod by Judd

First visit to Cape Cod and first trip with bicycles. My husband and I tried something different than Disney and Williamsburg. Biking along the beautiful streets of Provincetown under the morning sun was wonderful.

Waterfront, yet a low-rise building; biking distance to downtown Provincetown

Resort Experience:
This was our home base while we explored Provincetown and Cape Cod by bike, on foot, and by car. We had low expectations beforehand because we knew that motel conversions are common in Cape Cod and that cooking facilities might be limited. The Sandcastle was better than expected. We had daily maid service, a pleasant surprise. The studio was smaller than we hoped, but adequate for two, clean, equipped for cooking, and much more convenient than a hotel room. We had a ground-floor unit, handy for unloading the car, parking our bikes, and coming/going throughout the day. Noise from the unit above carried down, but was not a problem because the children up there went to bed early. The kitchen had a sink, fridge, microwave, and range top - adequate for light cooking. It was a joy to walk out the door, hop on our bikes, and pedal into Provincetown. If I lived in Boston, I'd be tempted to leave the car at home, take the ferry over to Provincetown, and bike to the Sandcastle for a low-stress vacation.

Attraction

I can't believe I climbed the Pilgrim Monument right to the top!! We lost count of the steps. The view from the top is worth every step.

At ground level, the museum has some interesting exhibits. Take a close look at the replica of the monument. I was also surprised by a photo of Roosevelt in Masonic finery.
