Out of the way Orlando

An October 2003 trip to Orlando by stevied888

Quote: A quick, long weekend in Orlando with some out of the way restaurants.

Best Things Nearby:Lots of restuarants and very close to DisneyBest Things About the Resort:All sorts of pools, and one with a fun waterslide! Sort of tropical. Resort Experience:A variety of buildings on the property. It is a little confusing to navigate. A car is a must, although they offer shuttles to Disney. Very close to International Drive; lots of activities for the kids. Our unit was not available when we checked in and we were downgraded. We would caution that you can either get a dumpy unit or a beautiful unit and there is no knowing until you check in. The property is nice, but you might want to consider a more consistent property. ...Read More

Everglades Restaurant

Restaurant | "Everglades"

Quote:
This restaurant is very nicely done and is a tribute to the Everglades, with rich woods and a beautiful mural when you walk in with spoonbill rosates. Carvings and statutes of alligators, panthers, and native Florida animals. My favorite was butter in the shape of alligators and an alligator stew. Swordfish was the best I have ever had.

Sleuths Mystery Dinner Shows

Attraction | "Sleuth Mystery Theatre"

Quote:
This is a show where a murder is committed and the audience must solve it. There is a choice of seven shows that include murders and a mansion, in the English countryside and at a wedding. There is audience participation, with some members of the audience being selected to be in the cast. It is all hilarious!
You have a choice of 3 entrees, generally cornish hen, lasagna ,or prime rib and unlimited beer, wine, or drinks. Terrific key lime pie and chocolate cake for desset. The shows are terrific. I was told to come here by friends who come whenever they're in Orlando. It is my second time here, and I would recommend it highly!

Marco Anthony

Restaurant

This is a small restuarant in a shopping center next to a Publix. It is a little ways from the normal Orlando hubbub, and it is where the locals eat. It is extremely popular with families, and although we were there early, it was packed (every table taken), but the tables turn quickly.
It was the best Italian restuarant we remember eating in, and not expesnive. Wide selection on the menu and huge pizzas. Everything is clearly made from scratch! We had veal marsala and spaghetti carbonara--both were out of this world. The desserts were knockouts! The service was good. Dinner with appetizer, drinks, and dessert for two was only $44!

Walt Disney World Resort Epcot Theme Park

Attraction | "Epcot- Future World"

Quote:
We enjoyed a not-so-crowded day and got to see all of the rides. We learned the advance pass system has its flaws, and you may just get on faster by going single. In other words, if you don't mind riding the ride without the others in your party and just fitting in you will save lots of time in line! On the most popular rides we never waited more than 5 or 10 minutes doing this!
