Quote: Our very best vacation yet. Started in Rome (my husband said crazy, hectic (NY on drugs) proceeded on to Tuscany (glorious and lazy) on to Venice (awesome) and finished up in Lake Como (spectacular). Drove ourselves. Totally set-up trip myself (no travel agents!). Great way!

Rome - Colusseum, St. Peter's, Sistine Chapel, Piazza Novona - etc. The usual, but all spectacular as first time visitors to the 'Eternal City.' Great Shopping - leather, jewelry etc. Stayed at a B&B within the city and felt like a resident. Watch out for the gypsies who pickpocketed my husband for about .00 (sounds worse in Lira). Stayed at a old farmhouse in Tuscany. Ate figs from their trees, great dinners in their wonderful converted stable (sounds crazy, but the farmhouse renovated with wonderful antiques, library, ancient, but delightful comfortable rooms. This ancient, lovely, renovated 19th century Tuscan farmhouse, located in the heart of the Tuscany region. Also, well situated for side day trips to Florence, Siena and many wonderful small towns such as: San Giamiano and Montepulciano.
