Rehoboth Beach - The Beach Next Door

A September 2003 trip to Rehoboth Beach by Amberle18

It's funny how sometimes we can miss the most beautiful places simply because they are 'right next door'.

The beach is simply beautiful. The sands are clean and well groomed, and litter is kept to a minimum. When the beach is less crowded at dawn and dusk, the view is beautiful and breathtaking.

During our visit, the waves were a bit active from the passing of Isabel and made a truly awe-inspiring sight as the sun rose over their rolling thunder first thing in the morning. I know sleep is good, but make a point of taking a morning to be the early bird--it's well worth this worm!

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

I'm not much of a walker myself, but the layout of the beach area is such that driving loses its appeal. The myriad of shops and restaurants are nestled in and around the roads and alleyways in such a manner that to not walk through each one would have been criminal.

The accommodations were beautiful and clean. The service lacked what the hotel made up for in style and location. Front desk personnel were difficult and unfriendly, but overall the experience was a good one. Rooms were a good value and the views were very nice.

Restaurant

Jake's has a warm and friendy ambiance. From the curved bar at the entrance to the amber glow lighting the dining room, the restaurant exuded comfortable. Our party ordered everything from shrimp cocktail to steak and every person enjoyed and complimented their meal. The seafood was fresh and uniquely prepared. The service was accommodating and polite. The price was well within reason and a value considering the portions served. I highly recommend this restaurant.
