Marina Bay "Ratsort"

An October 2003 trip to Fort Walton Beach by dcb1

Our family vacation to the Panhandle for the first time was very exciting. Fairly old resort with remodeled motel rooms. My wife was awakened at 5am on Sunday morning by a RAT in our kitchen trashcan. What an exciting start to our vacation!

Gulfarium was nice for children. Rent a pontoon boat in Destin and go dolphin-watching for yourself! There were dolphins all around our boat!!!

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

A car is a must to go between Ft. Walton and Destin.
Best Things Nearby:
Gulfarium. Short drive to Okaloosa beaches.

Best Things About the Resort:

Resort Experience:
This is a remodeled hotel. Old facility and not very well-maintained. When the facility manager was contacted at 5am due to a rat in our room, he stated, "Oh, that happens from time to time from people leaving doors open." No follow-up at all.

Eat outside on the pier! It was a beautiful evening with a sunset over the water and bottle-nosed dolphins jumping in the water. The grilled Cajun tuna was very good.

Restaurant

Very good experience and food. You could watch the boats come in to weigh their catches for the Destin Fishing Rodeo at the dock outside of the restaurant.
