A wonderful vacation spent at the Villa Del Palmar resort in Cabo San Lucas.

Villa Del Palmar (an RCI resort) proved to be one of our more memorable vacation resort destinations. VDP sits along one of the most popular beaches in Cabo San Lucas, Medano Beach. The pool resort staff members; Rene, Jose, and Victor were most entertaining and proved to be excellent ping pong players! We had some very competitive games. The pool volleyball allowed for much guest interaction. An absolute must when in Cabo is a trip to The Office. This beachside watering hole is what fun is all about. Not only do the servers keep you "hydrated", the food is also very good. And, because of the Office's popularity, the surrounding beachside sites also provide continual entertainment making for a place to spend hours on end. A great place to just simply unwind and enjoy the beautiful Cabo fun and sun. The sunset "booze cruise" aboard the Pez Gato boat was an absolute highlight.

Quick Tips:

Exchange your dollars into pesos. You'll get a better exchange rate. And with Cabo being one of the more expensive tourist destinations in Mexico, every little bit helps toward stretching your travel dollars.

Best Way To Get Around:

Walking along Medano Beach which starts right off the premises of Villa Del Palmar resort is not only refreshing, but quite therapeutic. The lull of the softly crashing surf is soothing to the senses. When seeking a taxi, always establish the rate before departing to your next party destination. From VDP, the standard taxi rate for four is between 70-100 pesos (approx. -10). Don't hesitate to ask the taxi driver for eatery recommendations. At times, you may be provided free drink coupons, as we were.
Best Things Nearby:
The most popular beach, Medano Beach, is right off the resort premises. The Office is an absolute must for eating, drinking, and being merry.

Best Things About the Resort:
The VDP caters to everyone's needs. The staff is most courteous, attentive, and always greet you with a smile. The resort is well manicured. The on-site gym is a great way to start your day.

Resort Experience:
The Villa Del Palmar was pure charm. All staff members were exceptional. Their "Kids in Paradise" program is exceptional for families with young children. The resort’s pool staff (Victor, Rene, Jose, and Sandra) was quite entertaining. They continually kept the poolside active for those who wished to participate in the various poolside activities. They were also very good ping pong players, which made for some exciting and competitive games. The Bella California restaurant served an exceptional breakfast buffet. Their omelet bar allowed one to order a customized omelet to one's liking. They also made a very good oven-baked pizza.

Mariscos Mocambo

Restaurant

Mariscos Mocambo was an excellent recommendation provided us. If you're one for seafood, Mariscos Mocambo is the place for exciting your seafood palate.

The food was heavenly. The "parrillada" special for four was one of the best seafood platters I've ever had. The restaurant is clean, well kept, and the staff most attentive. The strolling musician duo were the best I heard during our week's stay! They played one of the best renditions (and I've heard a number of them!) of "Sabor A Mi" that I've ever heard. As this was our wedding song some 27 years ago, it was exceptionally well received.

Pancho's

Restaurant

Pancho's Restaurant is another must for eating and drinking for anyone visiting Cabo San Lucas. Pancho's is renowned for its inventory of over 500 different types of tequila. Sit and chat with the bartender and he will provide you a lesson of Tequila 101. It is quite informative. Taste some of the best tequila found anywhere in the world. The breakfast at Pancho's will please even the most discriminating palate. Order their pozole as an absolute must after a night of drinking and frivolity.

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse is an experience in itself. The porterhouse steak for two is a highly recommended menu selection. Although a bit pricey, around US$90, it’s well worth its price. The unique presentation of sizzling (very hot) plates containing butter and garlic in which you dip your pre-cut steak adds a very unique flavor. This is certainly an eating encounter worthy of consideration when in Cabo San Lucas.
