2003 Nassau Bahamas

A September 2003 trip to Nassau by markhoge

We stayed at the RHC/Wyndham Nassau Resort and Crystal Palace Casino (#2982). We visited downtown Nassau, Paradise Island, and the zoo and gardens.

We went parasailing for the first time! I definitely recommend it. You get a good amount of time in the air and the price is reasonable.

Quick Tips:

The area of Wyndham beach that actually fronts on the ocean is pretty small. Guests are allowed to use the beach to the right. I suggest going through the casino and into the Radisson. Go out their doors to use their beach. Do not walk from the Wyndham to the Radisson beach. Wyndham patrons are not supposed to use the Radisson beach.

Best Way To Get Around:

Use the buses to get downtown. They are only each way and they run very frequently.
Best Things Nearby:
Easy to get downtown by bus.

Best Things About the Resort:
The casino was very nice.

Resort Experience:
This resort is a good place to stay. It is not a Gold Star resort in my book, but it was decent. There are not a lot of amenities here. However, it was a nice place to relax and unwind. For people who like the beach but not necessarily the ocean, there is a very nice cove to swim in. The ocean beach area was pretty small, however.

The zoo and gardens are very nice. It is a small place that will probably only take you two to three hours to thoroughly explore. Very relaxing and you get to see some rare animals.

For those who like to do more than stay on the beach, the Queen's Staircase, Fort Fincastle, and the watertower are a short walk from the Starmarket in downtown Nassau. Very historical and interesting. The top of the watertower is a GREAT place to take pictures of downtown, the ocean, and Atlantis.

A very nice place. We took a trip over to look at it. The hotel is very nice. The aquarium is something you must see. We did not pay the $25/person to get the tour. We thought that was a bit high. We were also not allowed to get on their beach, which looked beautiful. We were told by other people that if you go to one of the other hotels and walk down the beach, you can get on it. This was afterward however.

Attraction

A very intersting place. A LOT of people seeing stuff in a small place. Most of it is just T-shirts and trinkets. However, you can find some nice things if you look.
