A September 2003 trip
to Cable Beach by John & Jan S
Quote: Crystal Palace Casino Resort was fun, but it is an older resort with a great staff, superb views, and fun available around the clock.
When you check-in make sure they moved you to the casino tower (newly renovated). If you do not like your room ask for a new one, the 'by request'staff is very accommodating, just dial 20 on any phone.
This is a member of the Royal Resort family, if you are a member don't forget to bring your member card for your 10% dicount on all drinks and meals.
The prices for food are very high. You can eat breakfast lunch and dinner at the Sbarro's next door for a cheaper meal. For a fun time go to Johnny Canoe's (down the street) on Friday nights they have a great band. If you miss American cooking, go to the Outback restaurant (downtown) for American food at American prices (best steak in the islands).
Skip the big party boat snorkeling trips (ripoff), go to the resort on the left (facing beach) and get the small boat to take you out.
Use the private bus/jitney service to take you around the island. ( per trip) The buses are privately owned, safe, and the drivers are extremely helpful.
The timeshare sales people tell you not to rent a scooter, they are too dangerous--they just want to rent you a car. The local drivers are very courteous and are used to the scooters--have fun.
For the best cheap food go to Sbarros.
