My wife and I went to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and invited my wife's sister and husband to join us. We stayed at Pueblo Bonito Rose.

Overview

ATV Tour
One of the best things we did was a day on ATVs. There were only four of us and we had our own personal guide. He took us through the hills and sand dunes, through the desert, and we ended up on a secluded beach.

Quick Tips:

Get out and visit the town. Do most of your dining there. The prices are reasonable and the food is outstanding at the main restaurants. The resort restaurants are much more expensive.

If you stay in a resort where you have kitchen facilities, do some grocery shopping and have your breakfast/lunch in your suite. That way you can save some money and enjoy yourself more when you go to have dinner.

Also, if you are going to be drinking, purchase alcohol and beer at the local grocery store. Drinks are very expensive at the resorts.

Best Way To Get Around:

Stay at a resort near or in town. If you stay on The Corridor (the main highway between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose), you will need to rent a car to get around paying high taxi fares. When we taxied to town it only took 5 - 10 minutes depending upon where we went, and cost between and . We did walk to town a few times because it was only one mile away. Taxis are plentiful and cost the same regardless of how many passengers.

Best Things Nearby:
Many restaurants, nightclubs, and shopping are within walking distance or a shoret taxi ride.

Best Things About the Resort:
Beautiful grounds, excellent service, very clean and well maintained facilities, and great views of the ocean and Land's End.

Resort Experience:
It's a six floor, U-shaped, all-suite resort where all the rooms have an ocean view. The resort's architecture is somewhat Italian with several ancient Italian artifacts that are several hundred years old. Within the U-shape is an extremely large swimming pool surrounded by lush vegetation, flowers, and palm trees. They even have s small aviaries where they keep exotic birds.

The main restaurant is open-air and they provide romantic beach dining in a private cabana right on the actual beach. The food is incredible, but expensive. The rooms have partial kitchens allowing us to make some on our own meals and snacks, and housekeeping is very efficient and detailed.

Excellent Italian cuisine. We actually dined there twice. At the end of our trip, there was a hurricane and most places were without power. They had full power and were serving their full menu, so we went again.

This was a very unique dining experience. The tables were right on the beach and they had live music. The food was incredible and the service nice. Watch out for the beach peddlers. They came right up to our tables to sell us their stuff and were somewhat bothersome. They are allowed there because the beach is not private.
