My boyfriend and I, along with his two cousins, aunt, uncle, and four kids, camped in Acadia National Park for two nights over the Labor Day weekend.

Sand Beach

We visited this beach just before lunch time. It was a beautiful sunny day and apparently Maine had been through a heat wave early that week, but the water was still freezing. There is a slight walk down several flights of stairs, but that didn't keep the crowds away on this last summer weekend. The sight is awesome--the forest seems to come right to the end of the sandy beach. And on both sides of the sand, rocky hills seem to enclose this small haven.
