Turin was not designed for tourists, but with the proper preparation you will find a large but quaint historical city.

The Mole (cinema museum) is the tallest building in the city. The view from the top is extraordinary. The Egyptian Museum, one of the largest in the world, is located in the heart of downtown (via Roma). Turin has the shopping equivalent to Rodeo Drive on via Roma. You must also check out "Le Gru" the local mall. The wine tasting in the area is outstanding -- there are many local vineyards on the outskirts of town.

Quick Tips:

Bring a phrase book and learn a few courteous sayings. The locals do not speak much English, but they are anxious to help. I love this town I would move there in a heartbeat.

Best Way To Get Around:

Walking is the way to go downtown and if you have never driven in Italy, I would suggest public transportation. Their trolly system is very thorough and they are constructing a NEW subway system to accommodate to the Olympics. Taxis are great if you have a sense of adventure, but otherwise, keep your eyes closed. Turin is only a few hours (by train) from the Riviera, Alps, Lago Maggori, Milan, Aosta, and many, many vineyards.
