Bar Harbor in July

A July 2003 trip to Bar Harbor by rxshine

Bar Harbor is on Mount Desert Island on the coast of Maine. The island is home to Acadia National Park. There are both land and sea activities to keep you busy or provide a relaxing visual extravaganza, and there are plenty of places to find good and friendly people.

Restaurant

Dinner was at the Burning Tree restaurant in Otter Creekon the island. It is out of the bustle of the tourist harbor area and quite unpretentious, but don’t let that fool you. This is no small town eatery. The menu is mostly seafood with attention to vegetarian and dieters’ needs and displays the chefs’ versatility. The appetizers could provide a meal in themselves if a combination of the delightful offerings of soup, meat, seafood, vegetable and salad were chosen. The entrees provide a lot of food and are garnished, floated, sauced with imaginative ingredients. To compound the dilemma, there are additional daily specials of appetizers and entrées. A tasty selection of domestic and imported wines by the glass and bottle adds to the banquet. Served with an eye to presentation, the meal was wonderful with portion size satisfying. To complete the event, an array of epicurean deserts is available.
