A top-up Leuven journal

A September 2003 trip to Leuven by davidx

I regard this as a sub-journal of the one called 'A Sort of Debt' on the Belgium page.

I meant to do entries on the Oude Markt and the Town Hall, but they would only repeat what Adelaide has already done. Therefore, I am simply doing an accommodation entry for people who, like me, are confined to a quick visit. However, I will say that of all the wonderful buildings I saw in Belgium, a country famous for its buildings, none surpasses the town hall of Leuven in stateliness.

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

The room I had was not en-suite, although there are en-suite rooms available for a bit more (€37 without, $45 with, I think). The room had a washbasin, TV, and telephone.

Prices include breakfast, which is very reasonable.

However, the main virtue is the location. You can be in Leuven in about half an hour from Brussels North, and the hotel is about 2¼ minutes from the station. Having dumped your gear, you have only a short walk to the centre of Leuven.

There is an eating place attached, but I can't say I found it particularly good, and there are plenty of places very accessible.
