Nice selection of dishes and wine/beer. The waiters are polite and fast. A few times a week, a local band will perform Irish folk music and derivatives thereof.

Nistru Beach

Attraction

This is a surprisingly beachy beach when you consider it's 400km from the sea. It's located at the banks of the river Nistru which doubles as the border between the republic of Moldova and the autonomous region of Transnistria - so besides a nice trip to the beach you will also have a view on the complicated history of Moldova. The beach is really nice and the atmosphere is relaxed. I went there on a sunny day and the place was quite lively although not packed. It's almost certain that you won't encounter other tourists. You can wear usual swimclothes/bikini. I didn't observe any topless women, so use the top. At times there will be contests arranged by the local franchise of the Romanian TV...Read More

This is a larger, chaotic marketplace where you can find anything that goes into a common household. A large selection of foods, vegetables, and sweets are also sold. If you are looking for a gift you can most certainly find a bargain here.

Chisinaus Botanical Garden is a nice place to spend an afternoon. The garden has been refurbished recently to attract a larger audience. One thing I noticed as highly unusual is that small speakers along the central paths play the top of the pops. A certain area is devoted to a small zoo with goats, horses, and emus. There's a restaurant at the lake. Boats can be hired.

The garden is often used by wedding parties and a common sight is newlywed couples posing for photography.

This is a labyrinth of caves dug into the limestone cliffs. There's a small village and a museum with an exhibition of Stone Age tools and a small cafe where you can relax.

The area needs tourism development to be a really good sight, as you are pretty much on your own and no signs tell you which way to go or what you are looking at.

Arranged tours to the place are made out of Chisinau. I can recommend going on those as I travelled by public transport, which was painstakingly slow and in the end I had to hire a car to get to the place from the main road.
