My trip to the Big Island to see Pele at her best.

Pele's revenge

Overview

Most of the hotels on the Big Island are in Kona, which is a three-hour drvie from the volcano park. You must go to see the volcano at night. It is awesome. You get the full effect of the lava flowage when you walk on the lava fields and can see the glow of the lava flow at night

Quick Tips:

Stay one night at the ALoha Junction B&B. They provide you with walking sticks, and flashlights to use when you go to the lava fields.

Also, it is worth the money taking the helicopter tour over the volcano with Blue Hawaiian tours.

Don't take any lava rock home with you . . . it is not a myth.

Best Way To Get Around:

The easiest and only way to get around the island is by car. A must!

it feels like home
The Aloha Junction is off of the main road on the way to the volcano park. It has very lush tropical foliage on the property and a jacuzzi to enjoy the moonlight night. There are five bedrooms, which are decorated in the grandest Hawaiian decore. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and the house itself is very romantic. I never thought that I would like a fireplace in Hawaii, but after a trip to the volcano park in November, a warm fireplace is just what is needed. The onwer does an excellent job of making sure that you are fed before leaving in the morning to explore the island.
