Best Things Nearby:The beach was right in front of the hotel; there was an area directly in front of the hotel with chairs and hammocks.Best Things About the Resort:It had an air conditioner; it was very hot! The ceiling fan also helped.Resort Experience:The unit was great; pull out couch with views of the ocean, one bedroom with air conditioner, full kitchen. The porch had several chairs, and palm trees provided cool breezes. The main drawback was that you had to pay a nominal charge for bottled water to drink and for the electricity you used. But after all, you are on an island and things are different! This was just a small hotel, no real activities or...Read More

While on the caye, I ate in several restaurants along the beach. All served fresh seafood as their specials. The best meal I had (in several restaurants) was the local fare - stewed chicken meat with rice and beans. I found the local food very filling, and different from what I would eat here at home. I found the best thing to do was ask at the front desk for local places to check out.

There were many colorful fish, and the visibility under the water was perfect! The catamaran was El Gato, a local captain and one crew member. Our second stop was at Hol Chan. The captain stayed on the boat, and I got a personal guided tour by the crew! He took me around the underwater reserve, telling me the names of the fish and coral we saw. There were a lot of people here, but not so crowded that I couldn't ...Read More

This was an incredible trip. I did go alone - one of my friends was unable to get the time off work. Never once did I feel unsafe: everyone was very friendly and helpful. The Seven Seas Resort was a three story hotel with around 18 rooms. It was painted white, with bright pink trimwork, and just across the two lane unpaved beach road. There was a pier across the street where I was picked up for my snorkeling tour, and the water was shallow enough that you could walk out past the pier. The reef was visible from my porch, and at night you could hear the sound of the waves breaking. Someone was always coming by with fresh fruit or seafood, kids came by with jewelry they had made. With a golf car...Read More
