10 days in Florida

An August 2003 trip to Miami by nicoya

We stayed with family. We visited South Beach. We checked out Mango's -- great club and they play all the music we liked. We also went to the Keys. We went snorkeling and the reef is awesome. You're so close to all the fish, even baby sharks. I really recommend the Keys.

If you're planning to visit Florida, I recommend going for more than one week. The beaches are beautiful. There's Ft. Lauderdale, Palm Beach, South Beach, and the Keys. You should try the Keys for a weekend. They have tiki bars and dance areas. Also Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure theme parks in Orlando. I was there two years ago. Lots of great rides!

Hotel

Well, lucky for us that we have family in Florida, so we didn't have to use our timeshare or rent a place. We actually rented our timeshare in Cocoa Beach, FL, so it really was a great deal.

Restaurant

This restaurant has fine authentic Cuban and Nicaraguan food. It's open 24 hours a day, which is great because the clubs are open all night. I recommend the palomilla steak with black beans and rice. Also the mariquitas, which are the green plantains fried really thin like potato chips. Also try the skirt Nicaraguan-style steak dinner. Food is delicious!!

Attraction | "Bayside"

If you visit Miami, you should definitely visit Bayside. It's great if you just want to go shopping, dining, and all the views of the ocean. They usually have live bands playing outside and bars for those who like to have a pina colada while enjoying music. Bayside also has one-hour cruises with dancing and drinks. It's beautiful because the climate is humid and tropical. They also have a cruise for a few hours to see all the homes of musicians and movie stars.

I definitely recommend all the clubs at South Beach. They're open all night and if you want fresh air, you can walk across the street to the beach and relax with your partner or friend. I really enjoyed Mango's -- they played salsa/merengue and hip-hop music. For you singles, there are great looking women and men. The clubs are open all night and the bars don't close. They have hotels and resorts, so you can walk home after a night full of fun and adventure.

Attraction

My husband and I loved taking the boat out into the ocean and jumping in with all the beautiful/colorful fish. The reef was awesome. We even got close to baby tiger sharks. Tip: they say don't drink the seawater and really try not to because you'll feel sick and it'll spoil your fun.

Attraction | "Disney world"

These four parks are great for the whole family. Most rides are 42 inches and up. My four-year-old daughter loved all the rides, and she even got on the new Tower of Terror, which drops so many floors. Awesome!!
