Best Things Nearby:
Most of the resort activities are nearby, but unfortunately you need a car to enjoy this resort. You will have to drive a mile or more to get to the pool, golf range, on-site restaurant, etc.

Best Things About the Resort:
The units are new and the scenery excellent. You can sometimes see the wildlife for the forest jump out at you. We had seen plenty of deer and a beaver, and a house cat. The house cat came from one of the residential house which also share the mountain with Massanutten timeshare community.

Resort Experience:
The unit was excellent with each room large and well lit. There are three televisions, with one in each bedroom. We had a lower unit; so we had a partial kitchen only thing missing was the stove and oven. The timeshare does supply with a double electric counter hot plate, electric grill, electric pan, and toaster/oven. There is also a BBQ grill on the balcony. The balcony will offer you an excellent view of Massanutten’s mountain and valley. On our weekend we had only one clear day and it was an excellent view. Unfortunately that was during the day we were about to leave. Since the weather did not cooperate we did not have a chance to go on the Blue Ridge Parkway because of the cloud cover the mountain. We did go to Shenandoah Caverns on a day trip and it is recommended, but I do prefer the Luray Caverns if I had the choice. This is a four-season resort so there is something to do year round. The resort offer four swimming pools (two outdoor and two indoor) day trips, horseback riding, tubing, and a lot more than what I can write on this small review. My opinion is to experience it for yourself and enjoy Massanutten Resort.

International House of PancakesBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "IHOP"

IHOP has always been one my personal favorites when it comes to a breakfast restaurant. When it comes to quick service this one is poor because of the large crowds. Most of the customer come for James Madison University, which is a short distance from IHOP. Since IHOP provide them with a dining plan, each customer would take a separate check. I think this slows service tremendously. We were seated quickly because it was just the two of us. We had to wait about 10 minutes for our orders to be taken. Then we had to wait another 20 minutes or more to be served our breakfast, but it did come hot and delicious. We had a Country Omelet and Blueberry Pancakes. The bill came out to be just under $20 with tip. I would go back again because I do love IHOP, but beware if you do not like waiting or if you have a large party with you. Please be patient though because they do try hard.

Thai CafeBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

Thai Café is a good Thai restaurant, but I would not say it is traditional Thai restaurant. The crowd seem more of the young college students from JMU (James Madison University), which also located in Harrisonburg.

I ate the Chicken Lad Na, which is a flat noodle and vegetable dish serve with dark gravy. Usually, the noodles are fried or darkened a little, but with this dish, they were not. My wife who is from Thailand had Chicken Basil, which supposed to be a spicy dish and it was not. Again, in a traditional Thai restaurant, fresh chili peppers are used to spice up the dish. The dish used dried chili flaked, so it was served somewhat mild instead of spicy hot in my opinion. If you've never had Thai food, you can give this place a try. The service was good. If you are expecting to eat spicy hot food, you will be in for a disappointment.

Shenandoah CavernsBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

What is that
Shenandoah Caverns gave a fantastic view of what was in the 1922 Caverns of Shenandoah. Once, this cavern held dances between the stalactites, stalagmites, and flow stones. We found the rooms to be breathtaking and awesome. My favorite rooms were the Oriental Room and Rainbow Lake. This is a good place to visit on a day trip and definitely on a hot summer's day because the caverns are a cool 56 degrees. If you go, remember not to touch anything, including the bats.

Luray CavernsBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

These caverns are the most popular in VA and when you get there, you will see why. The caverns are always a cool 55 degrees year round, which makes it an excellent place to go on a hot summer day. The caverns have a variety of small and large rooms will some ceiling as high as 10 stories. The flowstones are breathtaking and awesome. The tour guides are the most educated in VA, which makes the tour more fun. Near the end of the tour, you will see the one-of-a-kind Stalacpipe Organ play "Oh, Shenandoah" -- of course, it can play live music during events and weddings, but during the tours what more can you ask for. At the end of the tour, the combination ticket will give you a tour of the most extensive antique car collection in VA with over 140 automobiles, which belong to the owner of Luray collection over the years. If you want to go to Luray, remember to bring a little jacket or sweater with you because it could be too cool for you during your journey into wonderland.
