New Orleans in the Spring

A May 2003 trip to New Orleans by danfawm3

One of my many 2-3 day road trips from Chicago to New Orleans... This time we stayed in the middle of the Quarter. In my opinion, spring is really the best time to visit this great city...

This was a wonderful hotel. Has a great courtyard with pool. We stayed in a room w/ a Toulouse St. balcony, which I highly recommend. It's quietier than a hotel w/ a Bourbon St. balcony but you still can hear the nightlife. Excellent location, just a half-block lakeside of Bourbon.

I'm marking this as luxury/budget because it only cost $99, but was a very nice boutique-type hotel.

This is by far my favorite bar in New Orleans. Actually, most of my time in the city is spent in this place. They have a great karaoke list and the MC's are very entertaining. Make sure you go there on a weekend when Dave is working. Three-for-one drink specials in the afternoon until 8pm. Be careful with this or you may end up with a 12-pack of bottles on your table without even realizing it. Wait times for singing can be long since they play a song in between each singer, so get your name on the list early!

A must-visit in the Crescent City. Make sure you go inside to really appreciate the beauty. Also, if you go on a Saturday, you may just catch a wedding, as this is a very popular place to tie the knot.
