Overview

Kyoto Photo - Kyoto, Japan
Quote:
Kyoto is a city jam packed full of wonderful temples and sight as well as a great base for day trips to the surrounding area, my favourite being Hirojima Castle.Quick Tips: Best Way To Get Around: The best way to travel around Japan has to be the super effiecient rail system. I bought a two-week rail pass which allows unlimited travel on most trains in Japan and was well worth the cost. Website: JapanRailPass.net The subway provides a fairly good way to get around, although you miss the city sights. This is simply the best acccommodation that I stayed at in Japan. Tour Club is a easy 9-minute walk from the main station. The map provided gives clear instructions of how to find the place. I arrived in the morning, and was met by Tai, a young guy who works there. I was stayng in a dorm room which was shared with four other people and very clean. There is a communal lounge with a bilingual TV, free tea and coffee, as well as a great book collection with a wealth of information about Kyoto and the surrounding area. The friendly atmosphere make this a really great budget place to stay with the only negative points the cold dorms (to save energy) and the 'lock out' between 11am and 4pm. ...Read More

Kiyomizudera Best of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Kiyomizu Temple"

Kiyomizu Temple Photo - Kiyomizudera, Kyoto, Japan
Quote:
The temple is perched of a hillside overlooking Kyoto, affording spectacular views over the city. The temple is reached after a climb up a narrow street lined with wooden houses and shops selling all manner of traditional crafts. The various constructions look spectacular in the wooded setting on the hillside, and are deffinatly worth a visit, my favourite temple in Kyoto.
