Feldkirch is a lovely very old town with a castle in the middle and arcaded streets with many houses from the 15th century up.

Overview

There is of course the castle with a very interesting museum showing dress and weaponry of the 16th and 17th and 18th century. Also a nice lit-up diorama of the town as it was long ago. The food is excellent and there is even a supermarket by the river.

Quick Tips:

A walking tour around the town can be accomplished in about an hour. The castle is an easy walk up the hill. If you like, you can take a 15 minute bus ride into Liechtenstein, or a half hour one into Buchs in Switzerland.

Best Way To Get Around:

Definitely walking or by bus. Taxis are reasonably priced, but there is no need for them.

Hotel

Feldkirch
The room was wonderfully large, well equipped with a modern bathroom. There is an elevator. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The breakfast table very good and plentiful. Service was excellent. The views are very nice and vary, depending on which floor and side your room is on. There is a lovely garden restaurant.

Restaurant

This is an old fashioned classic European restaurant with excellent food and friendly service. I had the venison one evening and it was superb. There is a formal dining room or one can choose to sit in the garden which is much more fun, provided the weather is good.

Attraction | "The castle and the many antique houses"

Feldkirch
This is a very attractive typically old-time town with many houses dating back 200-300 years and more. Almost all of them are kept in good condition and I believe there is an architectural commission which looks after the new additions. The main street has all arcaded houses and stores of all types are in abundance. The natives are very friendly and helpful to the stranger. Naturally it helps if you speak German (I do) but many of the natives speak at least some English.

Attraction

For the tourist who doesn't want the formal meal everytime, there is a very nice and very well-stocked supermarket which has everything from meats to fruit to vegetables and a particularly nice candy and chocolate section. For the hiker who wants to take some food along, this is the place to come. There are also several small deli stores that sell ready-made sandwiches and other goodies. They are reasonably priced also.
