Small town feeling

A December 2001 trip to Stowe by murph the serf

Quote: The town of Stowe is the epitome of a small Vermont town. Even in the midst of a popular skiing area, the town makes you feel as if it is home. The local people welcome you warmly with an air of familiarity. I never tire of the area.

Stowe Recreation Path

Attraction | "Stowe Recreational Path"

The Stowe recreational path is a paved pathway about 3km long and it follows the river. It crosses the river via a couple of pedestrian bridges. In winter, the path is used for X-country skiing, walking, and snowshoeing. In summer, it is used for biking, in-line skating, walking, and jogging. The Village Green abuts the path and is therefore readily accessible to it.

The path winds it way from the area of the Top Notch Resort at Stowe to downtown Stowe. Although it runs near the road from downtown Stowe to Smugglers Notch, one rarely hears any vehicular noise. The river is the main noise that you hear. One last note, the path is wheelchair accessible and free.
