Hotel | "Best Western La Playa"

The room had a small kitchen and two double beds. The rooms are very old, and the closet doors were falling off. The rooms were stuffy, and smelled very musty. The carpet needed replacing about 10 years ago. We checked out early. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Down The HatchBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

I have gone to this restaurant for years. It is located right on the inlet. Boats can dock right up and climb aboard the restaurant. The catch of the day is the best bet. I have had other things on the menu, but nothing compares to the value of the catch of the day.

Down the Hatch is extremely popular with the locals, as well as tourists, and reservations are recommended or be prepared to wait an hour for a table. If you have to wait then I suggest going to the bar and having a drink and an appetizer. If you are adventurous, try the shark bites.

DeLeon Springs State ParkBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "DeLeon Springs Park"

Ponce DeLeon, the Spanish explorer, believed that he had found the fountain of youth when he first saw the springs. Visiting the springs, it's no wonder why.

DeLeon Springs is an all-day trip for all ages. There are many things to do, regardless of the temperature. When it is hot you can take a refreshing soak in the 72 degree springs, rent a paddle boat or canoe, and enjoy the nature walk. In the winter time, you may just see a manatee.

I suggest arriving here on a Saturday or Sunday, enjoying the pancake breakfast, packing a picnic lunch, and renting a canoe. The park is open from 8am to sundown. DeLeon Springs is a must see and a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of Orlando. See the true Florida.

Central Florida ZooBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

Central Florida Zoo is a small zoo that is competing with the larger attractions in Florida. It's mostly known to locals and is off the beaten path. If you have a large zoo in your hometown, it will probably be better, but if you are looking for something to do, and have had enough of Disney, than this may be for you.

Daytona BeachBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

One should not have a vacation in Florida and miss the beautiful Florida beaches. Daytona Beach is the most famous beach in the world because you can drive on it. Pack the car full of beach balls, towels, blankets, and picnic food, and head off. Park your car on the packed sand and you have it made, just be sure to leave before high tide.
